From the beginning
Where we are now
SoyStep, the phthalate-free flooring product, is the creation of best friends and business partners Rob Holroyd and Charles Albritton lll. When not fighting the labors and challenges of the flooring business, you may find them either slipping away for a round a golf, or secretly planning to sneak away for a round a golf!
As the founders of Phoenix Epoxy Systems, both Rob and Charles have a strong background dealing with epoxy floors. Together, they have over 60 years’ combined experience in the flooring business!
With the negative impact asbestos has had on the flooring industry in the past, and the impact that phthalate regulation is having on products today, they felt the need to create a decorative floor system that was both very safe and phthalate free. SoyStep was created because schools, hospitals, prisons and many public facilities continue to face increased regulation and health & safety standards, they recognized that the future of flooring is changing.
After two years of intensive testing and formulating, SoyPoxy was born. SoyPoxy is made with bio-renewable soy oil and most importantly, is phthalate free! SoyPoxy is designed with the toughness, durability and chemical resistance of traditional epoxy. However, due to the absence of phthalates our product isn’t restricted by regulatory bodies such as California Proposition 65 and EPA List.
As in all businesses, the ability to change is typically what makes good companies become great ones, which is how the Terrazeco Product line came to be. With the proper resin structure in place, the next challenge was to create a decorative flooring system . Once that was achieved, we combined our bio-renewable SoyPoxy with decorative marble and quartz, creating a flooring system unlike any other in the market!
The SoyStep system can even encapsulate current floors with phthalates or asbestos!
With the release of SoyStep, the future of flooring is here!
